Frequently asked questions

What is the best age to photograph my new baby?

The sooner the better! Most newborn sessions take place between 6 and 14-days after birth as newborns tend to stay sound asleep throughout the session and we are able to gently move your little one into sweet poses. After the 14-day mark, babies begin to move and stretch more, making the poses and images more challenging to achieve. But don’t worry, it is still possible to do a session after 14 days, we can work around what your baby is comfortable with!

When is the best time to schedule my newborn portrait session?

The best time to schedule your session is 6-8 weeks before your due date as my calendar fills up quickly! I only take a limited number of newborns each month, so let’s make sure we get your session on the calendar as soon as possible and there is one less thing to worry about after your little one is here!

Will you come and shoot in my home?

All newborn sessions are done in my climate controlled studio where you’ll have access to my suite of props (and I’ll have access to all of my equipment and gear!)

Do you need a deposit? When are your fees due?

A retainer fee of $75 is due at the time of booking to reserve your session. This payment guarantees your newborn baby’s shoot gets on my calendar - no matter when the baby arrives and locks in your pricing. The remaining balance is due on the day of your session.

Can I incorporate sibling and family photos with my baby?

Absolutely! Photographing your little one surrounded by family is an incredible experience for everyone involved. If you want sibling or family photos, you’ll need to book a Signature or Heirloom package.

Who supplies the props and outfits for the newborn session?

I do! In my studio you will find a wide variety of hats, headbands, wraps, outfits, and props, such as bowls, baskets, crates, buckets, beds, and baby carriage, just to name a few! Prior to your session you will fill out a questionnaire where you will pick your color and prop preferences and your session will be styled with those preferences in mind.

What poses do you offer? Can I request a specific pose?

I offer numerous poses during your session and we will absolutely try to capture your desired poses and images! My main priority during your session is the safety and comfort of your newborn. I will never force your baby into a pose that they can’t settle into or that they don’t like and it is for that reason that I cannot guarantee all poses.

I love all my images and want more images than my package allows! Can I purchase more?

Of course! Extra images are available for purchase at $35 for each additional image requested. As an added bonus, when you purchase three additional images, you'll get the fourth free!

Is newborn photography safe?

We have completed courses and training in newborn safety and ensure that your baby is posed safely throughout the entire photography experience. Additionally, we wear a mask for the entire newborn photography session to minimize baby's exposure to any viruses.

Do you hand-edit or use AI to edit my photos?

We only hand-end our photos using our signature process to ensure a consistent, high-quality edit. We do not believe in using AI to edit any of our photos. For those who use AI to edit photos, there is the risk for for AI-edited photos to be stored in a database and has the potential for images of your baby to use used for alternative or nefarious purposes.
